Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes, it's that time of year here in Canada.
I love it at this time of the season. It's just perfect!
The weather is great, the flowers are still blooming, the pumpkins are at their peak, and it isn't anywhere near Christmas.
The only thing lately is that Halloween has appeared to take over in the stores, but that's a money making grab so I try to ignore it. I'm not very fond of gory Halloween decorations.
My two vintage Chatty Cathy dolls are showing off a sign I made a few years ago, and one of them is wearing a pilgrim dress and hat I made, and sold. I would like to make another to keep, but of course, I haven't yet got around to it!
Today I'm thankful my parents are coming for turkey dinner, and I'm thankful to live in a free country, in Canada, where we can still practice what we believe, and are still free to attend church.

You said it beautifully. I love Thanksgiving as well, since it focuses on family and get-togethers and thankfulness rather than all the commercialism that Christmas brings. I like how Canada's Thanksgiving is celebrated a bit further away from Christmas so that you can really enjoy it. Here in the US, Thanksgiving is often only about 4 weeks before Christmas, and really just serves as a "kick-off" for the holiday season. Many people start their Christmas shopping ON Thanksgiving to get all the good deals! Makes me kind of sad that it has all become so commercialized. I tried very hard this year to find some cute, Thanksgiving decorations for my home (pilgrims, squirrels, etc, but almost everything is Halloween oriented. I found a lovely, tall, Pilgrim lady figurine last year at the thrift store, and I have been searching and searching for a "husband" for her! No luck this year--I've told her that she may have to be patient and wait a few years!

Thank you, Angela! Yes, my favourite holiday is Easter, then Thanksgiving. Christmas is so overdone now, but I try my best to remember the true reason to celebrate the Christ child. My best bet is to stay far away from the stores, but the Christmas decorations are already up in some of them. Ack! I find if I remain quietly at home, I am better off. I don't go out half as much as I used to.
Yes, you have to make that pilgrim outfit for your own Chatty! I've done that too. One year I sewed outfits for people on the Ginny Doll list and never got my own dolls' outfits done. They're still sitting somewhere all cut out but never sewn. I'll have to live to one hundred to get all my unfinished projects done.
Can I move to Canada? Please......
